The Commercial Archaeological Geophysics Seminar returns in 2026

Bradford – 9 & 10 July

After a 12-year hiatus, CAGS will take place at the Bradford Arts Centre on the 9th and 10th July 2026.

Registration will open in January, and a Call for Papers and Posters will follow.

For those of us with hazy memories of the last, and for the many others who were yet to join the sector, the seminar brought together those who undertake surveys, those who commission, those who set and enforce the standards, and those who use the data and reports. The day attracted a broad sweep of the Archaeological sector from the UK and Europe, where we discussed changes, debated ideas and shaped the future. The day consisted of 4 sessions, each with a roundtable discussion at the end.

We will look to use a similar format in 2026. We have booked a fantastic venue in the heart of Bradford that has completed an extensive refurbishment this year. We have the main hall for talks, a large foyer for tea & coffee, exhibitors and posters, and several meeting rooms for break-out sessions.

To make this day as successful as the last, we need input from across the sector. There have been many advances in technology, shifts in the UK and abroad on the political spectrum, and changes within the wider industry since 2014. What do you want to come and present, debate, or rail against?
